There are only about 10,000 pairs of Humboldt penguins left in the wild and they're found in coastal areas of Chile and Peru.

Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park cites habitat destruction, over-fishing and climate change as factors in the penguins becoming endangered.

In all seriousness, his keepers want Spruce to join their breeding program because there are as few as 10,000 pairs in the wild, according to the sea life center.

They add that if you know a penguin who fits the bill to shoot him a message.

The Humboldt penguin lives at the Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park in the UK.

Spruce lives in a colony with 13 other penguins, but they're either already coupled up or males in the same boat as Spruce.

"At 1 year old you could say I'm a little young to be thinking about getting a mate, but I'm keen to be part of our park's Humboldt penguin breeding program as soon as I'm ready," the profile states.

"Unfortunately, our cousins in the wild are having a tough time out there - there may be as few as 10,000 pairs of us left in the wild!

"All the adult penguins are now entering their breeding season and are busy making nests.
